Anime fans weren’t quite sure what to expect in 2013 when Battle of Gods was released in theaters, becoming the first new piece of Dragon Ball animation in 16 years. After such a long hiatus, would it be any good? And would this perhaps be the very last creative gasp from series creator Akira Toriyama?

The respective answers, yes and no, came quickly. Battle of Gods was a fan-pleasing hit, and a follow-up came in the form of the recently released Resurrection “F”.

So after two movies in two years, is Toriyama ready for a break? Nope, he’s ready for more, but this time not in theaters, as Dragon Ball is returning to TV this summer with a brand-new anime series.

While the manga remained Dragon Ball for all 11 years it was in serialization, its anime adaptation have gone by a number of names. Starting off as plain old Dragon Ball in 1986, the anime switched its title to Dragon Ball Z before reaching the peak of its popularity. Later came the retouched Dragon Ball Kai, a leaner, cleaner version of the Z portion of theDragon Ball anime library.

▼ There was also Dragon Ball GT, made with minimal input from Toriyama and received with minimal enthusiasm by long-tome fans of the franchise.

The new series, for which visuals are yet to be released, will be called Dragon Ball Superin both English and Japanese, although written with the kanji character 超 (pronounced choand meaning “super”). Unlike the lengthy period between the announcement and premiere of Sailor Moon Crystal, we won’t have long to wait for the first episode of Dragon Ball Super, since it’s scheduled to start airing in July on Sunday nights at 9 o’clock on Fuji Television, the ancestral home of Dragon Ball on Japanese broadcast TV.

And just in case you’re worried that this is another Dragon Ball GT-like attempt to milk theDragon Ball name for all it’s worth, you can rest easy knowing that Toriyama himself is handling story planning for the new series, which is set following the end of protagonist Goku’s battle with the villainous Majin Buu. Fuji TV producer Osamu Nosaki has already read the plot penned by Toriyama, calling it “the stuff of dreams” and telling fans they might be seeing Goku and pals take on an enemy even stronger than Buu or the ever-popularFrieza.

As much as we’d like to praise the 60-year-old Toriyama as “tireless” for continuing to work on his masterpiece at an age when most people would be thinking about retiring, the description seems even more fitting for voice actress Masako Nozawa, who will turn 79 this October. Nozawa isn’t passing the torch to anyone else for Dragon Ball Super, as she’ll once again be voicing Goku as well as his sons Gohan and Goten.

“I’ve said the word ‘super’ countless times in commercials, games, and such,”mused Nozawa. “But nothing has felt as good as being able to say ‘Dragon Ball Super’ is starting.”

For all the rest of us, that feels pretty good to hear, too.

KARANGSAMBUNG  - Menjelang musim kemarau setiap tahunnya atau sepanjang bulan April, para petani walur atau si badur (Amorphophallus variabilis) di kawasan pegunungan Kecamatan Sadang, Karanggayam dan Alian Kebumen, menikmati musim panen raya umbi tanaman ini.

"Mengingat umbi ini adalah bahan baku tepung si badur yang diekspor ke Jepang sebagai bahan pembuat mi di negara itu, petani selalu bersemangat untuk memanennya. Dibandingkan jenis umbi lainnya, umbi ini harganya paling tinggi. Bisa mencapai Rp 1500,- per kilogram di tingkat petani, Rp 1.700,- per kilogram di tingkat pengepul dan Rp 1.900,- per kilogram di tingkat pedagang," ungkap Ny Sarjiman, pedagang umbi si badur di Dukuh Watu Tumpang Desa /Kecamatan Karangsambung Kebumen, Minggu (26/04/2015).

Sebagai pedagang atau 'juragan' si badur satu-satunya di Kebumen, Ny Sarjiman mampu mengirim 6 hingga 7 ton umbi basah ke sebuah pabrik pengolahan umbi si badur di Jawa Timur. Dalam sebulan, dirinya bisa 3 sampai 4 kali melakukan pengiriman umbi basah. Sedangkan pengiriman umbi kering dilakukan 1 kali, yaitu
di akhir musim panen.

"Biasanya di akhir musim panen atau sudah jarang turun hujan, umbi saya rajang setebal 1 sentimeter, kemudian dikeringkan dan dikirim dalam keadaan kering," jelas Ny Sarjiman yang sudah 20 tahun lamanya menjadi juragan walur.

It's no secret that SCANDAL is beloved by fans around the world. Few other Japanese acts have as large, as dedicated or as vocal of an international fan base. Despite this fact, SCANDAL has never ventured far into the international market. Until now.

SCANDAL is preparing to go on its first world tour this week with a show in Paris, France. The band will be travelling across the world, including a brief run through the US, in the coming months to promote its latest album "HELLO WORLD". JpopAsia caught up with the band ahead of the tour. Check out our interview below:

JPA: How does it feel to be travelling the world on your biggest tour to-date and performing for your international fans? Is the vibe or the fans different in any way than when you play in Japan?

RINA：We go abroad for shows every year, but this is our first time to go around the world on a “world tour”, so we are very happy that we can go overseas with our newest album, which is packed with the latest “SCANDAL” songs! Our international fans are so energetic and that’s what we really love about them! We are really looking forward to having fun together!

JPA: The title of your latest album is “Hello World”. Did you guys intentionally plan to take this album to a wider international audience?

RINA：We wanted to make an album that can be a BGM in our everyday lives, so this album is filled with situations and feelings that everyone has experienced. You can probably feel the Japanese seasons and emotions in the songs. We hope that our fans overseas will listen to this album and come to love Japan through us!

JPA: Is there anything, or any place in particular that you are looking forward to visiting or seeing during this tour? Will you have any time off to see any sights in any of the cities you will visit?

HARUNA：Yes, there are a lot of things that we want to do and see, but we’re especially looking forward to all the different food!

JPA: More and more Japanese pop and rock artists are finding a substantial international audience for their music and SCANDAL also has empowered a lot of girls to play music and start bands themselves. Do you see yourselves as role models for the next generation of Japanese girls? Or for girls around the world that like your music?

MAMI: When we started, we had never even touched an instrument or really understood how to be in a band. Now it is amazing that we have so many people that listen to our music and come to our shows. We are really grateful and think we are very blessed.

JPA: “Image” alludes to a bright future and a new start. Did you have something specific in mind when you made this song?

MAMI： Doing our second show in Osaka-jo Hall, which was our dream to play from the very beginning, and also performing 2-days in Yokohama Arena were big hurdles that we were overcame. We imagined a whole new future after that.

JPA: Many of your songs talk about change and the future. Is this an allegory for the band and its future as well? Where do you see the band going next in terms of its creative path?

MAMI：I think the band’s mood and motivations will change after this world tour. I hope to get a lot of influence from this tour and to reflect them in our production.

JPA: SCANDAL has been together for nearly a decade now. How have your relationships with each other changed and matured over the years? Do you hang out a lot together outside of the group?

RINA： As I look back, I don’t think we’ve ever had any bad times. When we first formed the band, I had never imagined that we will come to have our 10th anniversary. But now, I can imagine SCANDAL after another 10 years. I hope we can stay as a band that can play all over the world. We are always together in our private lives too. We often go out to eat.

JPA: “Departure” describes a couple that goes their separate ways. What was the inspiration behind this track?

MAMI： In a shopping street near my home there is a huge cherry tree, and that was the image I used to create the story behind this song. March 3rd was the day we debuted from an indie label, and also the day we first performed solo at the Osaka-jo Hall. So I kind of had a feeling that spring is an important season for a band. I am very happy that I got to sing about such special season.

JPA: Everyone in the band participated in the songwriting of this album, and everyone had songs where they sang lead vocals. What was the creative process for this record? How did the songs come together?

TOMOMI: It depends on the song, but for me, I play my acoustic guitar at home, and choose the chords and create the basic composition of the song. Then I collaborate with an arranger. I think the other band members have a different vocabulary than me, so each finished work has a different character. I think we are able to express more of our natural selves as all four of us began to write the songs as well as the words.

JPA: Is there an interesting or especially funny or ironic story from any of your past tours or during your time together that you could relate to us?

TOMOMI： “Food,” which is another fun part of being on tour! We always look forward to eating all the local food!

SCANDAL Announces First Ever Arena Tour

For the first time ever, girl band SCANDAL will be heading out for an arena tour!

The tour was announced in the band's 12th of April "SCANDAL WORLD TOUR 2015 [HELLO WORLD]" show at Tokyo International Forum Hall A. The arena tour will start at the Hyogo World Memorial Hall on the 9th of December and end at Tokyo Nippon Budokan on the 13th of January, 2016.

SADIS!!! DANA BANSOS Rp 1,220 Miliar, Hanya Diberikan Rp 118 Juta SAJA??

KEBUMEN  - Kasus pemotongan dalam penyaluran dana bantuan sosial (bansos) bidang pendidikan dan keagamaan Provinsi Jateng tahun anggaran (TA) 2008 di Kebumen benarbenar keterlaluan.

Bagaimana tidak, dari total bansos sebesar Rp 1,220 miliar yang disalurkan kepada penerima hanya Rp 118 juta. Artinya, dana yang dipotong atau menjadi kerugian negara mencapai Rp 1,102 miliar.

Merujuk data Satuan Reskrim Polres Kebumen, dari 23 titik bantuan itu terbagi menjadi tujuh bidang pendidikan dan 16 titik bidang keagamaan. Bidang pendidikan, meliputi untuk madrasah aliyah, TPQ, dan SD Islam, seharusnya dana yang disalurkan Rp 480 juta, tetapi hanya sampai pada penerima sebesar Rp 35 juta saja.

Adapun total pemotongan bantuan sebesar Rp 445 juta. Untuk masing-masing lembaga semestinya menerima Rp 60 juta-Rp 70 juta. Namun realisasinya masing-masing lembaga hanya menerima Rp 5 juta.

Misalnya, SD Islam Al Hikmah semestinya menerima Rp 70 juta tetapi hanya mendapatkan Rp 5 juta atau dipotong Rp 65 juta. Kemudian untuk bidang keagamaan sebanyak 16 titik, meliputi musala dan masjid dengan bantuan semestinya yang harus disalurkan Rp 740 juta.

Tetapi sampai penerima hanya Rp 83 juta atau dipotong sebesar Rp 657 juta. Dari 16 titik, 15 titik, menerima Rp 5 juta dan satu titik menerima yang menerima Rp 8 juta. Dari pengakuan tersangka Riyanto (55) bantuan itu sampai masuk rekening bank penerima bantuan tetap utuh sesuai dengan jumlah bantuan.

Tetapi saat pencairan oleh calon penerima bersama pendamping di bank. Selanjutnya penerima mendapatkan hanya Rp 5 juta. Pemberian uang Rp 5 juta itu dilengkapi dengan kuintansi bermaterai 6.000. “Ada dana sekitar Rp 1,102 miliar yang terkumpul dari sisa pemotongan bantuan tersebut,” ujar Riyanto yang berperan menyalurkan bantuan di Mapolres Kebumen, Rabu (15/4).

Tersangka Baru

Menurut dia, dana tersebut diambil Bagong warga Purworejo yang belakangan diketahui, sopir mantan Ketua DPRD Jateng, Rukma Setyabudi. Adapun Bagong saat ini masuk dalam Daftar Pencarian Orang (DPO) Polres Kebumen. Dalam kesepakatan awal itu, kata Riyanto, berapa pun dana bantuan sosial yang turun dari Gubernur, pembuat proposal hanya menerima Rp 5 juta saja. Sepengetahuan dia, sisa dana akan digunakan untuk mensukseskan pasangan Bibit-Rustri pada pilgub Jateng yang diusung PDI Perjuangan.

Dari 23 titik bantuan itu, 17 titik didistribusikan melalui Untung dan Rahmat. Sedangkan enam titik disalurkan melalui Sutikno dan Riyanto. Sementara itu, tersangka Daryanto mengaku hanya menyalurkan enam titik bantuan masing- masing Rp 40 juta.

Setelah bantuan masuk rekening penerima, dia bersama perwakilan penerima mencairkan di bank dan diberikan sebesar Rp 5 juta. Total dana yang dipotong melalui dia sebesar Rp 207 juta dan diserahkan kepada tersangka Riyanto. Adapun dia mengaku hanya mendapatkan uang bensin dari penerima bantuan rata-rata sebesar Rp 500.000.

“Sebenarnya kami tidak menikmati apa-apa, tetapi harus bertanggung jawab,” tandasnya. Kapolres Kebumen AKBP Faizal melalui Kasat Reskrim AKP Willy Budiyanto mengatakan, kasus ini masih dalam penyidikan.

Setelah nanti berkas dinyatakan lengkap, perkara itu akan dilimpahkan ke kejaksaan. Di singgung adanya kemungkinan penetapan tersangka baru, pihaknya masih terus melakukan pengembangan. “Ya, tentu kemungkinan itu bisa terjadi sepanjang alat bukti sudah mencukupi,” tandasnya.

Diberitakan sebelumnya, tiga orang tersangka Riyanto (55) warga Desa Pamijen, Sokaraja, Banyumas, Sutikno (36) warga Desa Datar, Kecamatan Sumbang, Banyumas, dan Daryanto (38) warga Desa Wonosari, Kebumen ditahan di Mapolres Kebumen terkait pemotongan dana bansos. Penahanan ketiga tersangka merupakan hasil pengembangan dari penyidikan perkara yang sama.

Sebelumnya, dua orang yang terlibat yakni Rahmat (49) mantan Kepala Desa Kedungjati, Sempor saat ini telah divonis 4,3 tahun oleh majelis hakim Pengadilan Tipikor Semarang. Sedangkan tersangka Untung Suparyono (57) warga Desa Kedungpuji, Gombong saat ini masih menjalani persidangan di Pengadilan Tipikor Semarang. (J19-32/SuaraMerdeka)

Menggodanya Giok Jawa asal Kebumen!!!

KEBUMEN - GENCARNYA pemberitaan akik asal Kebumen mengundang ketertarikan artis ibukota dan paranormal kondang di Tanah Air. Mereka pun berburu ke stand yang bermunculan bak jamur di musim hujan.

Bahkan mendatangi langsung ke pusat batu akik Luk Ulo di Desa Giritirto, Kecamatan Karanggayam, Kebumen. Untuk diketahui, stand yang menawarkan batu akik dengan berbagai jenis dan varian itu telah merebak di kabupaten berslogan Beriman ini. Hampir di setiap gang dan pinggir jalan menuju desa, tampak menawarkan batu akik, lengkap dengan cincinnya.

Mereka juga memasang spanduk. Tempat itu menjadi mudah dikenali, karena terdapat penggosok batu yang menggunakan alat bersuara nyaring. Seperti stand di Jalan Cendrawasih, Kebumen. Stand milik Suyatno yang dikenal dengan Yete Comb itu baru didatangi salah satu personel band kenamaan.

Artis asal Jakarta yang baru konser di Yogyakarta itu menanyakan giok Jawa. Setelah mendapat yang diinginkan (giok Jawa-Red), artis itu langsung pergi menggunakan mobil Alphard. Hal itu dibenarkan sejumlah warga yang sempat menyalaminya.

“Artis tersebut salah satu personel band Noah,” kata Khambali (34), warga Tamanwinangun, Kebumen. Tidak hanya mendatangi stand yang buka hingga 24 jam, sejumlah artis juga diketahui berburu giok Jawa di Desa Giritirto. Hal itu dibenarkan Kades Giritirto Teguh Prasetyo.

Menurut dia, belum lama ini pelawak I Parto mendatangi desa yang dipimpinnya untuk mencari giok Jawa. “Saya yang mengantar langsung I Parto ke sejumlah perajin akik. Dia (I Parto-Red) mengaku senang, karena mendapatkan batu mulia yang diinginkan,” kata Teguh Prasetyo sambil menunjukkan koleksi akiknya.

Selain artis ibu kota, paranormal seperti Ki Kusumo juga berburu giok Jawa di Desa Giritirto. Desa di daerah pegunungan itu memang menjadi pusat aneka jenis bebatuan di zaman purbakala. Lokasinya yang berbatasan dengan Kabupaten Banjarnegara itu, bahkan telah diteliti memiliki varian jenis giok nephire.

Kaya Batu mulia

Keberagaman jenis dan warna pada batuan nephrite ini yang membuktikan, Indonesia adalah negara yang sangat kaya akan sumber daya alam, khususnya batu mulia. Praktis, tak jarang investor asing datang ke Desa Giritirto hanya untuk berburu dan ingin memiliki batu mulia jenis satu ini.

Bahkan investor itu sudah banyak menyimpan koleksi batu mulia dari Desa Giritirto sejak jauh hari sebelum batu akik booming. Para investor itu memborong dan menyimpannya pada boks almari untuk digunakan sebagai investasi. Selain itu juga terdapat giok jenis jadeite yang memiliki warna khas hijau, orange kemerahan, lavender, hingga biru kehijauan.

Sedangkan batu giok nephrite memiliki warna cenderung putih susu. Untuk giok jadeite lebih keras, karena memiliki tingkat kekerasan antara 6,5 hingga 7 skala mohs. Sedangkan nephrite hanya memiliki tingkat kekerasan antara 6 hingga 6,5 skala mohs saja. (Arif Widodo-32/SuaraMerdeka)

miss A Members Had No Idea Suzy Was Dating Lee Min Ho

miss A members Fei and Min have said that they had no idea that their group mate Suzy was dating anyone prior to the Dispatch report revealing her relationship with Lee Min Ho.

"We had no idea they were dating. We were so surprised, but she’s the right age to date and we hope she has a beautiful relationship," the two said during their guest appearance on SBS Cool FM’s "Kim Chang Ryul's Old School".

Suzy and Lee Min Ho's relationship was revealed just before miss A released its new album "Colors". Analysts expressed concern that this would negatively impact the group's comeback. Fei and Min both said that they did not fear the relationship would negatively impact the group's comeback, but instead felt happy and supportive of it.

Netizens have been critical in their response to Fei and Min's discussion on the matter. As Suzy's group mate, many felt as though they must not be close if they didn't suspect she was dating anyone.
